The weather hasn’t been the greatest and our kids are driving us crazy in the house! You may be hiding in your room for some peace and quiet, mourning those crisp fall, and sunny spring days where you could go to the park to let the kiddos run off all their energy. Before you decide to bite the bullet and just brave the nasty weather in whatever season (snow, wind, cold, hot and humid), check out some of my favorite indoor playgrounds in Chesapeake.
We Rock the Spectrum
We Rock the Spectrum Chesapeake, VA is an indoor playground that offers a wide range of sensory friendly play equipment. Operating with a philosophy that ALL children deserve a safe space to play, their gym space is set up with activities and equipment that is both sensory friendly and fun for children of all ability levels.
When visiting this playground, you will be impressed with the variety and novelty of the activities. From an indoor zipline to every kind of swing you could possibly imagine, We Rock the Spectrum allows kiddos to get their wiggles out while they build those core muscles!
The playground also has a variety of toys and other set ups for more imaginative play. My own girls were impressed with the dress up station and box of L.O.L. Dolls and Barbie dolls. Babies at the playground particularly enjoy the car ramp and dancing to the music that plays on the stereo.
Before heading to We Rock the Spectrum, it’s best to go online and register your child(ren). This allows for seamless check-in so you can get straight to play time!
Town Square Play Cafe
Located in the Deep Creek area of Chesapeake, the Town Square Play Cafe is designed as a safe play space for children ages 0-10, though they admit on their site and social media that their place spaces will be most enjoyable for children under the age of 8.
When you enter the Town Square Play Cafe, you will immediately notice the quality of their equipment. Featuring a wooden playhouse, specialized tiny tots area, and toys for various creative play options, this play space will keep the kids entertained for the length of your visit. An added bonus to this space? It features a cafe where you can get snacks and refreshments, nipping those whines of “I’m hungry” in the bud!
Reservations are not required, but they do limit their numbers so it is best to check in online if possible.
The Play Spot and Indoor Playground in Chesapeake
Owned by a local family that also teaches Ninja Warrior classes, The Play Spot is the ideal indoor playground for older and very active kids. The playground features a large variety of equipment, ideal for children who love to run, jump, and climb. Although there are areas that work for toddlers, this playground may not be the best for families with primarily young children. However, it is just the answer many families with older children have been looking for!
Along with open play times, The Play Spot offers Ninja Warrior classes to children ages 3-12 as well as half day summer camp options for 6-12 year olds. Their Virginia Beach Ninja Warrior Gym location offers more options if The Play Spot options do not work for your family.

FunVille Playground and Cafe
Offering two locations in Virginia, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, FunVille has been a community staple for years. FunVille has two separate play areas for toddlers and older children. This helps ensure the safety of the littles, while also providing a fun area for older children. The biggest children can also try out the ropes course for an extra challenge!
The cafe is what sets FunVille apart from other indoor playgrounds. Rather than offering the usual selection of snacks like other playgrounds, FunVille serves actual meals consisting of choices like sandwiches, salads, pizza, and burgers. Just keep in mind that this means you will not be able to bring in your own food and snacks.
Funville sells their admission tickets online and offers hero discounts as well as membership options.
Dynamic Duos Activity Center
Located within the Lynnhaven Mall, Dynamic Duos is a great option for parents with young children. The playground offers both open play and Parent Time, which allows parents to drop off their kiddos and run a few errands. Having a drop in care option is a great asset to the community! Especially for busy moms like me.
