For parents looking to get out there are a plethora of kids activities in Virginia Beach. Whether you’re just looking for a fun playground, or up for an adventure, there is sure to be something for you to do! Military Aviation Museum

For kids interested in airplanes, the aviation museum is a must see! They are home to a very large collection of vintage airplanes and have both stationary displays and, on occasion, aerial displays. Santa has even been known to do a fly-in around the holidays. As a bonus, there is a dinosaur statue park on the grounds. The statues are life size and made of metal. This is great fun for any kiddo who loves dinosaurs!

Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center

The Virginia Aquarium is a great choice for kids of all ages. Not only will you see interesting sea creatures, but they have several touch displays allowing kids to interact. In addition, their South Wing has an interactive play exhibit. The Adventure Park at the aquarium, a zipline experience, is also worth a visit for older children.

Mt. Trashmore

As you may expect by its name, Mt. Trashmore is an example of reuse of a landfill. Its man-made hills were made by compacting together layers of clean soil with solid waste. But don’t worry! You would never be able to tell if you didn’t know. The park is home to an excellent playground, with a rubber surface, that has areas for children of all ages.

 

Ocean Breeze Waterpark

Located conveniently in Virginia Beach, Ocean Breeze is a great summer activity for kids. Featuring a wave pool, waterslides, and a lazy river, there are plenty of options to keep kids entertained for your whole visit. They even have an area geared to younger kids so it’s a great place for all kinds of families!

Cape Henry Lighthouse

This is a great place to visit if you are interested in the history of Virginia. This lighthouse was one of the first projects of the newly founded United States and was in use for 100 years! If interested in visiting you either need base access (due to military affiliation) or you need to ride a shuttle and make sure you meet all requirements.

Virginia Beach Boardwalk

The boardwalk is iconic when you think of visiting Virginia Beach. It is home to a plethora of shops and restaurants. Walk along the boardwalk and get your shopping in. Take pictures with the giant King Neptune statue. Play at Grommet Island Park playground. When you need to cool off, head down to the beach and splash in the water. The boardwalk definitely makes for a fun day out.

 

First Landing State Park

Home to the site where colonists first landed in 1607, First Landing State Park is a treasured spot in Virginia Beach. Not only is there a lovely beach on the land, but there are also great hiking trails. Camping is also available, making it the perfect getaway for tourists or even locals who just need a weekend break. There is plenty to do and your kids will have a blast exploring with you!

Sandbridge Beach, like the boardwalk, has a playground nearby, giving kids another option if they need a break from the water.
