As the holiday season approaches, we are all looking for unique gifts to give our loved ones. Grandparents, in particular, can be very difficult to shop for! As a Chesapeake family photographer, I can tell you that photographs often make the best gifts. You’re already getting those family photos anyway, why not take advantage and create some beautiful heirloom pieces that make perfect gifts? Here are my top 5 choices for turning family photos into Christmas gifts.
How often do we look through our pictures on our phones? Not very often, right? But imagine having a beautiful photo album out on your coffee table. How often do you think your children will flip through it, looking at, and enjoying, pictures of your family? If my girls are any indication, they’ll do it all the time! And, if your own family enjoys an album of your photos, think how happy grandparents would be to have the same thing! That’s why, as part of my offerings, I have mini duplicate copies available for purchase. You can purchase a gorgeous album for yourself and a smaller, gift sized one, for grandma and grandpa!
Wall art is one of the best gifts you can give, especially to grandparents! Who wouldn’t want pictures of their sweet grandbabies hanging on their walls? When looking at frames, be sure that you are complimenting the decor in their home. Would white or a darker wood look best? Maybe a metallic would look better? If you are worried about matching the frame, a wrapped canvas may be the way to go. Those can be hung on the wall without a frame and have a great, modern look!
These acrylic blocks are a fun alternative to a desktop framed image. Have your image mounted to a 1” thick, crystal clear, acrylic block. You can even get them engraved or design them with custom holiday designs. These make amazing gifts for someone to display on a desk or shelf!
Photo calendars are a tried and true gift that everyone loves. Think about how exciting it would be for everyone to see a new family photo every month. Put pictures of certain family members on their birth months to add an extra special touch! I actually offer two different types of calendars through my print shop, a wall calendar and a tabletop one.
If you’re looking for more holiday themed gifts, photo ornaments are a great way to go. Making ornaments of your family photos can easily become a Christmas tradition! Update them every year and add them to your own family tree, give them out as gifts, or both. There are some very cute options out there for holiday ornaments including the bamboo ones from my print shop.
While not exactly a gift, many people enjoy giving and receiving holiday cards. Take your family photos and turn them into gorgeous holiday cards that you can send out to all of your family and friends.
Family photographs deserve to be enjoyed. We all know that, while posting them on social media is nice, the best way to enjoy photographs is to get them printed! That is why it is best to work with a full-service photographer. As a Chesapeake photographer, I work with each of my clients to ensure that their beautiful photos are preserved as timeless heirlooms.
