Tiny Tumblers and Mighty Muscles: The Little Gym of Chesapeake

A young girl with shoulder length brown hair and bangs wears a long pink dress. She is standing in front of some wisteria. She is the right age for school age classes at the Little Gym in Chesapeake.

As parents, we are always on the lookout for fun activities for our kids. However, sports can often be a huge time commitment and are just too competitive for some children. A great option for those high energy kiddos can be tumbling or non-competition gymnastics classes. You can find just that at The Little Gym of Chesapeake!

About the Little Gym of Chesapeake

The Little Gym is a gymnastics gym franchise and you can find locations all over the country. The gym in Chesapeake is located right in Hanbury, making it easily accessible from 168. The Little Gym offers classes starting at 4 months. This means you can introduce your little to safe tumbling practices from a very young age! Perhaps one of the best aspects of the Little Gym is their inclusive atmosphere. Neurodiverse children can take classes, feel welcomed, and often find success where they haven’t otherwise in similar classes.

Class Offerings

You will find a variety of class offerings at the Little Gym The classes are for children ages 4 months to 12 years. You will find the following classes:

  • Parent and Child: For children under 3 years of age, the parent and me classes are the perfect opportunity to introduce your little to the basics of tumbling. They are also a great foundation as little ones become more aware and begin to socialize with other children.
  • Pre-K Gymnastics: For children ages 3 to 6. The pre-K classes are designed to help kids build foundational gymnastics skills. The highly active, centers-based classes keep the kids engaged while they learn new skills. The classes are also a great way to build social skills and help them learn to listen and follow directions.
  • Grade School Gymnastics: For children ages 6 to 12. The Little Gym offers a variety of gymnastics classes for kids who are grade school age. The classes offer different skill levels, meaning your child will be able to work at their own pace, in a level that is just right for them.
  • Dance: The Little Gym also offers dance for children ages 3 to 12. These classes are less competitive than traditional dance classes and a great option for kids who struggle in the highly structured studio dance classes. Each dance class also includes time in the gymnastics gym, helping kids to build those motor skills right along with their dance skills.

Camps and Parties/Events

In addition to their classes, the Little Gym also has a few extra opportunities. During long school breaks and the summer, you will find camps at the Little Gym. These camps are themed based. This means that the activities, which include gymnastics and arts and crafts all center around a theme (superheroes, for example). There are also skill camps, which allow more advanced gymnasts to work on leveling up their skills.

Parties and other events are also offered at the Little Gym. When you book a birthday party, you will get the whole gym to yourself. Your child and their friends will play planned activities which are overseen by Little Gym employees. You can also add a theme, such a princess, to make the party even more magical. Along with parties, the events are also held monthly. Look out for Parents Night Out, which allows you to drop your kids off for fun while you enjoy some alone time with your significant other!

The Little Gym of Chesapeake

All in all, the Little Gym of Chesapeake is a highly respectable, and fun place for kids to learn some gymnastics skills! It is less competitive than traditional gymnastics, making it perfect for kids just starting out or neurodivergent children, who need instruction more tailored to their needs.
