Historic Greenbrier Farms is a family-friendly sunflower field and farm in the Virginia Beach area that has been open since 1916. This landmark is a fully functioning nursery that offers many u-pick events throughout the year, including peaches, strawberries, tulips, vegetables, wildflowers, and sunflowers. Sunflower season occurs from mid-May through mid-November, and visitors can check Facebook for availability. 

Cullipher Farm

772 Princess Anne Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23457

Cullipher Farm offers a legacy of cultivation that spans generations, with a distinctive blend of farming practices and sustainable operation. This farm specializes in pick-you-own fruits and unique activities at the farm. Cullipher Farm offers u-pick sunflowers, which play a crucial role in promoting soil health and contributing to this farm’s mission of sustainability. Sunflowers are available from late summer through October. 

Henley Farms

3484 Charity Neck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 

Henley Farms in Virginia Beach offers pick-your-own fruits, vegetables, pumpkins, and Christmas trees. They also sell bedding plants and herbs, fall and winter ornamentals, and much more. Hayrides are available in the fall. This farm is open from May through December and includes the opportunity to pick your own sunflowers in the fall season. Three generations have operated Henley Farms, and this farm has provided fresh fruits and vegetables for over 40 years. 

Hickory Ridge Farm

2928 S. Battlefield Blvd, Chesapeake, VA 23322

Hickory Ridge Farm is family-owned and operated and is located in the Hickory Section of Chesapeake. This 18-acre farm includes strawberries in May, summer produce from June through August, and u-pick and wholesale pumpkins in the fall. Sunflowers are also available for picking in the fall, so be sure to check the Virginia Beach area farm’s website to stay updated on when you can go see these vibrant flowers. Families can even enjoy a play area, bounce houses, sand piles, and picnic tables, as well as hayrides and barrel train rides. The farmstead is fully stocked every day with fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, kettle corn, local honey, and fresh eggs. 

Burnside Farms

11008 Kettle Run Road, Nokesville, VA 20181

Burnside Farms features amazing sunflowers from mid-July through mid-August. This farm includes seventy acres of sunflowers – the largest sunflower farm in the Mid-Atlantic. They plant more than 70 acres of sunflowers to ensure at least four weeks of mesmerizing blooms. They also plant sunflower mazes, with three to choose from this year! The mazes bloom for about 10 days. Burnside Farms is known for its trademark Sunflower Sunsets, where visitors can spend evenings in the sunflower fields taking in gorgeous views.
